Spiritual Warfare Starts With Who Already Won
Pastor Alan's message Faith In Motion shows why you can stand in a hard week: the battle is fought from a victory already won.
Some mornings you wake up already behind. The news is bad, the old fear is sitting on your chest, and you are not sure you have anything to stand on. Most teaching on spiritual warfare starts with the enemy. Pastor Alan starts somewhere else.
In his message Faith In Motion, from Hebrews 11:1,6, the whole fight begins with a look at God. Here is how that plays out, one point at a time.
1. Faith that pleases God is faith that moves
Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” The chapter that follows is a list of people who moved. Noah built an ark where there was no water. Abraham left home without knowing where he was going. Moses’ mother hid her son from a king.
Pastor Alan said it plainly: “Not a casual faith. Not a convenient faith. Not a Sunday-only faith.” You cannot fight anything on a faith you only pick up for an hour a week.
2. Stand in an authority you did not earn
Jesus said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18). Pastor Alan drew the line straight from that verse: “If HE has it, YOU can stand in it.” You are not manufacturing power. You are standing in what Christ already won.
That changes the posture of a hard week. You are not a person trying to survive an attack. You are a person standing on ground that has already been taken.
3. The gates do not win
In Matthew 16:18 Jesus says, “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” Think about the picture. Gates are defensive. They are what you build to keep something out. The church is the one moving, and the gates are the ones that fail.
Pastor Alan put it this way: faith in motion “doesn’t retreat at resistance.” That does not mean loud, and it does not mean reckless. He said, “Faith in motion doesn’t have to be loud, it is convinced God can do what He says He can do.” On a Tuesday that looks like showing up to the hard conversation, the hard appointment, the hard room, without your voice shaking the whole way through.
4. Look at His majesty, not your problem
How does a person activate that kind of faith? Pastor Alan’s answer was a glimpse. Not of your problem, not of your pain, not of your past, but of the majesty of God. Psalm 8:1 says, “O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth.” Psalm 93:1 says, “The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty.”
Then he took the church to Isaiah 6:1: “I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.” Kings wore long robes to show their victories, and the longer the robe the greater the triumph. Isaiah saw a robe that filled the whole temple. As Pastor Alan said, “My God has never lost a battle.”
5. Bigger than it all
Pastor Alan went down the list and let it land: bigger than disease, bigger than addiction, bigger than abuse, bigger than your past, bigger than your today, bigger than your tomorrow. “My God is Majestic. My God is Mighty. And My God is BIGGER THAN IT ALL.”
Notice what this does to fear. A glimpse of majesty does not make the problem smaller. It makes God the bigger fact in the room. Pastor Alan said that when your faith begins to move, “Your fear gets silent.”
Stay sober, stay standing
None of this asks you to go looking for a fight, or to blame every flat tire on the enemy. Scripture tells you to be sober. It also tells you where to stand, and the Bible is clear that the ground is already won. If your mind or body is worn out, take care of that too, and talk to a doctor when something feels off.
What to do this week
Pick one passage that shows God high and lifted up. Isaiah 6:1-4 or Psalm 93 will do. Read it out loud before you open your phone in the morning. Then name the one thing you have been looking at instead of Him, and say, out loud, that He is bigger than it. Take one step of faith you have been putting off.
If you are in White House, Tennessee and would rather not face this alone, Today’s Victory Church meets Sundays at 3 p.m. and for Bible study Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. You do not have to have it figured out to walk in.
