Faith in Motion in a House Nobody Sees

You do not need a loud faith or a changed spouse to move, because Scripture's examples of faith started with one quiet step.

A lot of tired couples are waiting. Waiting to feel closer. Waiting for the other person to change first. Waiting for a better season, a quieter schedule, a sign. Meanwhile the house stays exactly the same.

Scripture has a different word for what pleases God, and it is not waiting.

Faith moves before the evidence shows

In his message Faith In Motion, Pastor Alan built on Hebrews 11:1 and 6. Verse 1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Verse 6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Then he pointed at the people in that chapter. Noah built an ark where there was no water. Abram left his home not knowing where he was going. Faith in motion was the common thread. Not faith that felt ready. Faith that took the next step with nothing visible to stand on.

Hebrews 11:7-8 says Noah prepared an ark and Abraham obeyed, going out not knowing where he was going. Neither one waited for the weather or the map.

Now bring that home. Nothing in your living room says your marriage will change. That is exactly where faith in motion starts.

It does not have to be loud

Pastor Alan’s sermon is full of bold declarations, and one line in his notes is easy to miss: “Faith in Motion doesn’t have to be Loud. It is Convinced God can do what He says He can do.”

Some of you need to hear that. You are not failing because you are not a loud person. You do not have to turn every dinner into a Bible study. Faith in motion at your house might be one sentence of prayer at the sink with your spouse’s name in it. It might be answering a sharp word with a quiet one. It might be getting yourself to church when you are the only one going.

First Peter 3:1 speaks of a believing spouse winning a husband or wife “without a word” through the way they live. That is slow, and it is not a promise of a particular outcome. It is permission to stop arguing your faith and start living it.

Look at God, not at the problem

How is faith in motion activated? Pastor Alan’s notes answer with a list of things you are not to stare at. Not your problem. Not your pain. Not your past. But the majesty of God.

Psalm 8:1 says, “O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth.” Isaiah 6:1 describes seeing the Lord “high and lifted up,” with the train of His robe filling the temple. What Isaiah saw was how large God is.

Your marriage may feel like the biggest thing in the house. The notes say it simply: God is bigger than it all. Bigger than addiction. Bigger than your past. Bigger than your today. Bigger than your tomorrow.

That does not make the hard thing small. It makes your God large enough to stand in the middle of it with you.

Three small moves this week

First, pray one honest sentence for your spouse by name, every day, at the same time. The sink works. The car works.

Second, do one thing that costs you a little: a text that says thank you, a chore done without being asked, an apology that does not end in “but.”

Third, take a seat with believers. Matthew 16:18 says the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. You were not built to carry this alone.

The prayer at the end of Pastor Alan’s message asks, “Let victory break out in every home.” You can pray that over your own address tonight.

If you are carrying this alone

Maybe you are divorced, and the house is quiet now. Maybe you are single and praying for someone you have not met. Maybe your spouse rolls their eyes at all of this. Faith in motion does not depend on a partner who agrees. It depends on God, and He is already in the room.

One honest limit. Faith in motion is never a reason to stay where you are afraid. If you are being threatened or hurt, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.

We meet Sundays at 3pm in White House, Tennessee, and Thursday Bible Study is at 6:30pm. Come as you are. Faith can start small there too.
